This Tuesday, July 12th 2011, Haugan Cruises hosted the inauguration of its newest Galapagos catamaran, M/Y Cormorant, at the Naval Yacht Club Pier in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
The ceremony opened with a speech from Haugan’s Director of Marketing and Sales, and concluded with a toast from the company’s Vice President. Present at the event were Haugan Cruises staff, the yacht’s crew, local and international agency representatives and special guests.
The Cormorant is a Luxury Power Motor Catamaran and is now the highlight of the Haugan Cruise Prestige Collection. The new boat contains two suites, two double staterooms, four connected cabins, and high-end service. Amenities include a hot tub, an ample sun deck, two bars, an indoor and outdoor dining space and lounge.
The name of the yacht comes from a popular Galapagos bird: The Flightless Cormorant. It is the only cormorant in the world that has lost its ability to fly; it is a great swimmer and hunts eels, small octopi, and other fish near the sea floor. Visitors may have the opportunity to see this unique bird aboard a cruise on this yacht.
Now that the yacht has been officially inaugurated as part of the Haugan Cruises Fleet, the M/Y Cormorant will be hitting the waters to make its way to Galapagos and will be servicing its first group of passengers in Galapagos by the end of this month.
