BOAT CURRENTLY NOT IN SERVICE
Introduction:
Built in Norway, Alta is a ketch-rigged motor sailer, a very stylish yacht that has the special charm of a sailing ship. She is one of the finest luxury yachts to sail in these equatorial waters, and seems more to dance across the water like a damsel in a white dress. Complete with all amenities, she is fully air-conditioned, has autopilot capabilities as well as satellite telefax. A classic among yachts, this masted schooner combines authentic shipboard elegance with any ocean passage.
Her luxurious dining cabin serves a delectable variety of international cuisine, fine wines and local tropical fruits and juices. Her spacious lounge is very elegant. Between mealtimes, relax here to watch TV or watch a video.
You will live in one of Alta's luxurious cabins, designed for comfortable cruising in the Galapagos. There are eight tastefully furnished rooms that offer space to up to 16 passengers. All cabins have lockers and drawers, a private bathroom with hot/cold water showers, and air conditioning throughout.
There is a spacious sundeck with cozy lounge chairs on board for the sun worshippers among you that do not want to do without style and comfort while sunbathing.
She is ideal for travelers who seek exclusivity and uniqueness. Alta is a three-masted staysail schooner, a very stylish yacht that has that special charm of a sailing ship. When her sails are hoisted, even the worst sceptic will have to admit that the Alta lives up to her reputation as being the most beautiful sailing yacht cruising the archipelago.

Important Note on Travel by Small Yachts through the Galapagos
Alta offers the unique opportunity to travel by small yacht through the Galapagos archipelago, providing you with an exclusive experience only shared by your small group. Alta is one of the most sought after vessels in the Galapagos.
We offer trips that encompass the full spectrum of landings the Galapagos Islands have to offer. Small yacht travel comes with factors that, while very normal, need mentioning. An important factor is that the only way to navigate these full itineraries that encompass the outer islands is by the use of engine power. For this reason, Galapagos is not a true sailing destination. While the vessel is rigged for sailing and do hoist sail during voyages when there is a good wind, sails on these vessels should be considered primarily for show and not for navigation.
On our sailing vessels we seek to hoist sails two to three times per voyage. The best time for wind in the Galapagos is during the summer months of June through September.
At times during your cruise, you will hear the sound of the engines. This is more noticeably when the engines are being started up for a night crossing. You may also hear the sound of waves slapping the hull depending on the sea condition. Also, you may hear generators or temporarily smell diesel, but not for prolonged periods. In heavier seas, which are infrequent in the Galapagos, you may experience sea sickness, especially during open ocean crossings. Please report any inconvenience you are experiencing during your voyage immediately to the Captain or crew. Often there are solutions to any inconvenience you may experience.
