Introduction
Situated in the Northern Highlands, this normally peaceful village in the Andes is widely known for its lively Saturday market that has been visited by travelers all over the world. Apart from the market, Otavalo is also impressive because of its captivating landscape of lagoons, lakes and valleys that can be admired during a hiking- or a riding trip. Don't miss the breathtakingly beautiful view over Otavalo and San Pablo lake from the hillsides, a patchwork quilt in all shades of green you can imagine.
Day Tour to Otavalo Market
The Otavalo Market day tour begins with a drive through Awakening Valley in Calderón, with its dough-bread figures, and Cayambe, which offers numerous delicious local food specialties. The trip to Otavalo passes by some of the most attractive artisan centers and Andean landscapes in Ecuador. When you arrive in Otavalo’s famous indigenous market, you can begin bargaining for hand-knitted wool sweaters, colorful tapestries, woodcarvings, silver jewelry, native paintings, and woolen and straw hats. Lunch will be served at a traditional Ecuadorian hacienda or country inn. After a full day of bargaining, you will be able to enjoy the amazing and diverse Andean landscape on the drive back to Quito.

2 Days Tour to Otavalo
Day 1 (L D) The Otavalo Market day tour begins with a drive through Awakening Valley in Calderón, with its dough-bread figures, and Cayambe, which offers numerous delicious local food specialties. Passing by some of the most attractive artisan centers and Andean landscapes, you will arrive in Otavalo and head to its famous indigenous market just in time to bargain for hand-knitted wool sweaters, colorful tapestries, wood carvings, silver jewelry, native paintings, woolen and straw hats, and much more. Lunch will be served at a typical nearby hacienda or country inn. Next you will head to San Antonio de Ibarra, famous for the woodcarvings, and then the town of Peguche, where textiles are woven in old-fashioned shuttle looms. Accommodation is included.
Day2 (B L) On the second day after breakfast, we will visit Cuicocha and the town of Cotacachi, an entire town dedicated to selling fine leather products and many handicrafts. After lunch, we will return to Quito.
