Arequipa's location near large snow-capped volcanoes and the Colca Canyon makes it a world-class destination for hiking, trekking, mountain biking and rafting. Most tour companies offer packages that help you explore this beautiful area. They are mostly located on Jerusalén, Santa Catalina and near Plaza de Armas offer tours of Colca, Cotahuasi, Toro Muerto, and the Arequipa city tours.

There are day trips and longer trekking excursions available. Prices tend to fluctuate significantly, so be sure to shop around for the best deal. For longer trips, especially trekking and rafting that last for more than three days, you'll need to reserve your tour weeks or even months in advance.

In general you get what you pay for, so make sure you know what’s included in cheaper tours. Also always make sure your company, and its guides are officially licensed.
