During a visit to the Lake Titicaca area, you will most likely end up staying in Puno. Hotels in Puno tend to provide the highest quantity accommodations in the Lake Titicaca area.

While many aim toward budget-backpackers rather than those seeking first class service, a few world-class hotels exist in Puno. The best options are located on the banks of Lake Titicaca, and are worth the taxi ride if you have some money to spare.

Most places are more than willing to bargain outside the high season (June-Sept), and you should always check out the place first to make sure it has amenities you want, such as hot water. Despite its reputation for less-than-sparkling dives, Puno does have some luxury accommodations that are worth a look if your budget can handle it.
