From record-setting reptiles to underwater adventures making waves in the summer, the Galapagos Islands never ceased to amaze and here’s the latest good news for Galapagos fans and nature lovers alike.

A Centennial Galapagos First-time parent
Goliath, a 135-year-old, 500-pound Galapagos tortoise at Zoo Miami, just became a father for the first time! After years of unsuccessful breeding attempts, Goliath and his companion Sweet Pea welcomed their first hatchling on June 4, 2025. Not only is this Goliath’s first offspring, but it’s also the first-ever Galapagos tortoise to hatch at Zoo Miami—a major milestone for the zoo and for global conservation efforts.
Zoo officials have submitted an application to the Guinness World Records to crown Goliath “The Oldest First-Time Father in History”, and the pair as “The Oldest First-Time Parents in History.” It’s yet another reminder of how these gentle giants continue to inspire hope for endangered species around the world.

Sharks Encounters From Galapagos to Netflix
“All the Sharks,” a thrilling new reality series, is premiering July 4, 2025. The competition follows global teams of shark enthusiasts as they race to photograph as many shark species as possible, earning points along the way for a chance to win a $50,000 prize for their chosen charity.
Among six filming locations, Galapagos was naturally selected for its unmatched marine biodiversity and dramatic underwater scenery. With its nutrient-rich currents and unique endemic species, the archipelago promises unforgettable moments beneath the surface.
Like Disney’s Sea Lions of the Galapagos, this new series brings international attention to the importance of protecting Galapagos’ fragile ecosystems—and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
