When you travel with us, you are helping the Galapagos Islands live on for generations through sustainability, environmental, and social projects.

At Galapagos Travel Center, we aim to provide a wonderful experience while also taking care of the Islands and its people for generations to come through sustainability and preservation initiatives.

Everything we do impacts the environment around us, so in collaboration with local and international organizations, we have committed to protecting the environment, offsetting our carbon footprint, and supporting local communities in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

Conservation Foundation Jocotoco is an Ecuadorian organization that protects critical conservation areas of endangered species in Ecuador by acquiring and managing biological reserves.

Galapagos Travel Center sponsors more than 500 hectares in the Buenaventura Protected Reserve in El Oro, Ecuador through the Jocotoco Foundation. This area captures 3,860 tons of carbon, which offsets the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that we generate in all our operations.

How do we calculate our carbon footprint?

Flights to and from Galapagos for our passengers
Emissions generated during our passengers' Galapagos cruises
Emissions generated in office: electricity and car fuel for staff commutes.

By calculating our carbon footprint, we offset 1.5 tons of CO₂ per passenger.

Galapagos Environmental Conservation

The Galapagos Conservancy's mission is to protect, preserve, and restore the entire ecosystem in the Galapagos Islands, from the land to the sea.

To support the protection of the environment, Galapagos Travel Center is working closely with Galapagos Conservancy on the Giant Tortoises Protection Project.

This project promotes the recovery of the tortoises ecosystems, the conservation and research of endemic tortoises, and assistance to the Galapagos National Park in their endeavors.

By traveling with us, you are protecting 1 Galapagos giant tortoise.

Charles Darwin Foundation

(Galapagos Islands)

The Charles Darwin Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research and conservation in the Galapagos Islands, which protects the archipelago's unique biodiversity.

To ensure the Islands are protected for years to come, the Charles Darwin Foundation develops environmental education and training programs for the local schools and communities.

Working with this foundation, Galapagos Travel Center is dedicated to promoting environmental, sustainability, and conservation education efforts within the local schools in the Galapagos Islands.

When traveling with us, you are supporting environmental education for 2 children.

Sustainable Travel Agency

We are happy to announce that our travel agency has received the WSO Friend of the Sea/Friend of the Earth Certification for "Sustainable Travel Agency".

The World Sustainability Organization (WSO) is a global leader in promoting sustainable practices. Their certifications, Friend of the Sea (FOS) and Friend of the Earth (FOE), are trusted symbols of environmental and ethical excellence, covering diverse areas from dolphin-safe fishing to sustainable agriculture. Over 1,500 companies, including top names in retail and hospitality, have earned these certifications.

To achieve this certification, we met strict standards in:

We are proud to be the first Ecuadorian travel agency to earn this prestigious certification!

World Sustainability Foundation Support

Galapagos Travel Center supports the World Sustainability Foundation (WSF), an NGO focused on conservation projects.

We are organizing a special trip led by a naturalist and WSF manager to explore the Galapagos’ biodiversity and raise funds for conservation projects in the Galapagos.

This trip will also help support other WSF projects, local communities, and biodiversity efforts beyond the Galapagos Islands.
