How the ratings are calculated

There is no official rating system for Galapagos tourism products and services. In order to enhance customers’ understanding of their Galapagos vacation choices, we have formulated our own rating system using a vast range of reliable sources.

To ensure that our ratings are reliable and accurate, we enlisted the help of:

In each category (Accommodation, Itinerary, Service), the opinions of the above were weighted to reflect their area of specialty or knowledge. For example, the feedback from the guides and trip advisors was more heavily weighted for the itinerary ratings, whilst the opinions of the boat inspectors were considered more important for determining the accommodation ratings.

Once all of the ratings had been weighted appropriately, an overall score was determined for each of the three categories for every boat in Galapagos. This was then converted into a star rating, with those boats scoring the highest being awarded a 5-star rating.
